On April 17th, the bustling assembly workshop of Dongfeng Cummins Engine Co., Ltd. in Xiangyang, Hubei Province, was a testament to the company's commitment to efficiency and order amidst a scene of fervent activity. With nearly a thousand dedicated workers on the frontlines of machining, assembly, and logistics, the company maintains a daily production rate of 800 to 1000 engines.
"Currently, our production lines are operating at full capacity," said a spokesperson for Dongfeng Cummins, highlighting the company's continuous optimization of its engine product lines. This has led to an increased diversity of products and strategic collaborations with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), setting a new benchmark for high-quality, national IV standard engines.
The company's intelligent heavy-duty engine factory, which was completed in late May of the previous year, is a marvel of modern manufacturing. It integrates automation, flexibility, digitalization, and green technology, achieving over 20 digital scenarios, including robot vision positioning, AI visual inspection, equipment status monitoring, and preventive maintenance.
To meet the market's demand for heavy-duty engines, Dongfeng Cummins has meticulously analyzed capacity planning and market needs. The heavy-duty assembly line's production capacity has been increased from 10 units per hour (JPH) to 15 JPH, with a stringent safety and quality control plan in place to achieve a target of 20 JPH by the end of the month.
In the emerging field of new energy vehicles and hybrid power, Dongfeng Cummins is not resting on its laurels. The company has significantly increased its investment in technological innovation, focusing on the development of hydrogen internal combustion engines and low to zero-carbon fuel technology engines. It is also closely monitoring and researching hybrid and methanol applications for off-road use.
Sales figures for the first quarter of the year are impressive, with Dongfeng Cummins engines achieving a 12.4% year-on-year increase, reaching 56,400 units sold, significantly exceeding the set targets and securing a successful start to the year.
